About this Visualization
This bar chart race shows NCAA basketball tournament team performance by seed from 2002-2024. For each seed (1-16), the visualization displays the team with the highest selected metric.
You can choose from several performance metrics:
- Net Rating: Overall performance rating (higher is better)
- Adjusted Offensive Efficiency: Points scored per 100 possessions (higher is better)
- Adjusted Defensive Efficiency: Points allowed per 100 possessions (lower is better)
- Adjusted Tempo: Pace of play in possessions per 40 minutes
The data excludes the 2020 season (when the tournament was cancelled due to COVID-19) and 2025.
